The rules of the game
In brief
On your turn, roll the 6 dice and set aside at least one scoring die. Then bank the turn's points or roll the remaining dice again. A roll where nothing scores loses all the points from that turn. The first player to reach the target (10 000 points by default) triggers the final round; the highest total wins.
Taking a turn
- Roll. Tap Roll: the dice still in play are rolled (6 at the start of the turn).
- Set aside. Tap the scoring dice: a 1, a 5, or a combination from the same roll. You must keep at least one.
- Choose. Roll the remaining dice again to add points, or bank them with Bank.
Set aside
Every die set aside must count towards the score. The app rejects any die that cannot score: with 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 6, the 1 can be kept, but the lone 2 is not part of any combination and stays in play. You do not have to keep every scoring die: keeping fewer leaves more dice to roll again.
Combinations must use dice from a single roll. Points from several rolls add up during the turn, but two 5 kept from one roll and a third from the next roll do not form three of a kind.
Bank or roll again
Bank adds the turn's points to your total and passes play to the next player. The app requires no minimum: as soon as you have scored points during your turn, you can bank. Rolling again can earn more, but the fewer dice remain, the greater the risk of losing it all: it rises from 2.3% with 6 dice to 66.7% with just one.
Busting
If a roll contains no scoring dice, the app displays “Bust!”: the points earned during that turn are lost, and play passes to the next player. Your banked total stays unchanged.
Hot dice
When all your 6 dice have been set aside, the app displays “Hot dice!”: all 6 dice return to play, and the turn's points are kept. You can roll all 6 dice again to continue, or bank.
The target and the final round
You choose the target for each new game: 5 000, 10 000 or 15 000 points (10 000 by default). The first player to reach it by banking triggers the “Final round!” message: every other player takes one more turn. The game ends when play returns to the player who reached the target, and the highest total wins.
The players
From 1 to 6 human players on the same device, plus 1 computer-controlled opponent (“AI”): the New game window displays “Humans + 1 AI”. The computer banks as soon as its turn score reaches a threshold, with a base of 300 points, higher when it is behind and lower when it has few dice left.
